Lykes Engineering Group

We work with building owners to lower their energy costs and increase their building's value and marketablity.

Results are immediate and last a long time. Investments made in our products and services are generally returned through savings within three years and can be as little as three months.

It's not just about saving money. Tenants appreciate the truer, more natural light generated by improved lamps and the comfort of a well insulated building.

With our products you will enjoy a better environment and be a part of saving the environment too.

"Using less electricity - which we can do by using energy-saving lighting - is the best protection for health and the environment."

Lighting and Controls

Lamps
Lighting typically accounts for over 35% of a commercial building's energy costs. Replacing T12s that were regarded as efficient 20 years ago with T8 fluorescent tubes and retrofiting incandescent fixtures can save 50-75% in lighting costs. Now, fluorescent products produce a more natural light with no yellow cast.

Lighting control systems can further reduce energy costs by turning off lights automatically when rooms are unoccupied and by adjusting for existing light.

Electronic ballasts, operating at frequencies greater than 20,000 Hz versus the 60 Hz of magnetic ballasts eliminate hum and flicker. They also boost a fluorescent system efficacy by up to 30%.

Radiant Barriers and Reflective Insulations

Radiant Barriers use technology developed for NASA on their Apollo program. These thin (.006 inch) sheets of 99% pure industrial aluminum control heat flow by reflecting 97% of the radiant (infrared) energy that meets its highly reflective surface and permits only 3% of that energy (heat) to re-emit through to the other side.

A perforated radiant barrier installed over bulk insulation in an attic can reduce heating and cooling costs up to 40%.

Reflective Insulations, like their thinner cousins radiant barriers, reflect 97% of the infrared energy that they encounter. Reflective insulations are different in that they incorporate a single or double layer of reinforced air bubbles between their foil sheets. This gives the product added thermal resistance by controlling heat transferred by radiation and by conduction.

   Perfect insulator for metal buildings.
